Theory of Knowledge Day 2019, The IBDP students at DRSIS, celebrated the Theory of Knowledge Day to provide a deeper insight to what Theory of Knowledge offers to them as a subject and showcase the inter-relations between the different subject electives. The platform gave the students to demonstrate their myriad talents and skills, all centered around the theme of Imagination. The event commenced with a musical performance by the IBDP-1 students, who uniquely covered ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon. Revolving around the theme of imagination, the students also put together a gallery walk with interactive activities and experiences. One of TOK’s essential learning outcomes, was attained through the activity called ‘Spectrum’ which sparked very insightful debates. These debates also promoted a great amount of participation from the parent community who freely shared their views and justifications for the same. In order to stimulate imagination in the audience and express themselves through dance, the students prepared a dance performance revolving around the concept of ‘Creative Movement’. They also presented a mime about the discovery of fire and the role of imagination in fueling it. The unique mime was conceptualized, scripted, directed by the students themselves although its interpretation was left open to the imagination of the audience. The ultimate aim of the TOK Day celebrations was to provide a deeper understanding to all the parents and the other participants with experiential insights into the nature of Theory of Knowledge and its objectives, which was successfully fulfilled through this event.
