Secondary Wing: Adventure Tour to Manali

During the Dusshera Vacations, the Secondary students of DRSIS from Grade VII to X got an opportunity to embark
on a holiday organized by Edu Sports in the pristine hill station of Manali, a resort town nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The students along with the staff set out for the adventure tour on 2 nd October, which began with a flight journey from Hyderabad to Delhi. At the Hyderabad airport, the students were given their travel kit which included their T shirts and Handbook. As they landed in Delhi, they moved their luggage to the luxury coaches waiting outside the airport and they began their climb to the mountains. The bus journey was adventurous as they stopped for a scrumptious lunch and dinner on the way. The twists and turns of the winding roads did nothing to dampen their spirits. As they climbed higher, the smell of pines and the fresh air invigorated them and they forgot the arduous journey. They reached the camp early in the morning and received a warm welcome at the camp in Manali, followed by a briefing about their stay there. They were allocated tents and they moved on to freshen up. After savoring a special lunch at the camp, the students spent the afternoon playing games of their choice and acclimatizing themselves to the environment. The evening began by dance and dinner and then an early wrap up. Early next morning after breakfast at the base camp, the groups headed for various adventurous activities like Rappelling, River Crossing and River Rafting under professional guidance at the Beas Valley. They had lunch and were left to experience breath-taking view of the natural beauty of the Beas Valley. The next day, they proceeded in a trek of their life time from the base camp towards the magnificent snow covered mountains through the lush green meadows. As they reached the top, they quickly freshened up. Lunch was cooked here with all the students participating in the process. They rested for a while after lunch and returned for dinner. Dinner was followed by an award giving ceremony where students were rewarded for their efforts and endeavors at the camp. On the last day, after an early morning breakfast, they left the camp heading towards Mandi, cutting through the country-side valleys. They stopped at Valley View Hotel for lunch and left for Delhi Airport. Tired and joyful, they reached the Hyderabad airport and students were handed over to their parents with lifelong memories associated with this tour.
