Active living and the development of physical stamina, endurance, and skills in Physical Education is an integral part of learning at DRS International School. The school celebrated its Mini Sports Day from 24th to 26th January 2019, with a range of athletic and sporting events and competitions for students of all ages. Our whole-school participation policy ensured that every child had a chance to compete and represent their houses at different levels of competitions.
The Mini Sports Day celebrations were flagged off on the 24th with our little ones of the International Kindergarten enthusiastically putting in their best in the 30 meters dash, 60 meters dash and the special fun race. The tiny tots learned to play by the rules and loved the opportunity to showcase their motor skills and self-management skills. Each child walked away with pride after receiving a certificate for their participation.
On the 25th of January, 2019, the sub-juniors, juniors, and seniors participated in track, field and jump events in a rota system that was extremely efficient. The cyclic movement of the specific classes ensured a controlled footfall and whole-school participation. On 26th January, after the flag hoisting, the closing ceremony of the Mini Sports Day saw each of the four houses- Galileo House, Newton House, Da Vinci House, and Tesla House collaborate to ace the race to the finish line. The 400-meter relay was held amongst a lot of excitement and enthusiasm from the participants as well as the onlookers. The event ended with the awards ceremony wherein the best houses in various categories were announced. Newton House beat the odds to emerge as the winners of this academic year’s coveted Sport’s Trophy.
