Martyrdom is perhaps one of the greatest forms of service, sacrifice and commitment that exists- the willingness to give one’s all to the cause one believes in. DRS International School joined the nation in observing Martyr’s Day with a special assembly that explored the legacy left behind one of our greatest leaders, Mahatma Gandhi. Besides recounting the Mahatma’s contributions to our struggle for independence, the assembly also recounted the circumstances leading to his assassination. The informative presentation was followed by a short quiz and an insightful talk that shed light on the different possible types of sacrifices and the level of commitment required from within for each of them, to achieve higher objectives. The gathering also observed two minutes of silence in memory of all the nation’s martyrs as a token of respect.
